Why Choose Us?
Nothing Teaches Like Success
Personalized Curriculum
Every learner receives an evaluation to identify weak or missing foundational skills in reading, writing, and math. Learners are then placed into an individualized academic plan to address those skills, catch them up in school, and establish a solid foundation for future learning.
Academic Fluency Building
Just as an athlete practices with the goal of fluent athletic performance, students should practice with the goal of fluent academic performance. We use the science of Precision Teaching to set daily fluency goals that put learners on a path to true mastery of the skills needed for academic success.
Set up for Success
When learners have a solid foundation of academic skills, they become more interested in school and begin to like and enjoy learning. This not only boosts test scores and short term learning goals, it sets them on the path to being life long learners.
A Record of Success
Precision Teaching:
"Precision Teaching is a monitoring, practice, and decision-making technology for improving performance of any kind", Johnson & Street. We use Precision Teaching with daily practice to build learners foundational academic skills to fluent levels. "Fluent performance is useful, permanent, and easily applied to new learning", Johnson & Layng.
Direct Instruction:
When new concepts are taught, our approach is structured and sequenced to ensure that learners are not being asked to do something that they have not been shown how to do. This sets students up for success and relieves the frustration that they feel when lost in a classroom among other learners.
Behavior Analysis:
The science of Behavior Analysis has been used for nearly 100 years to overcome individual learning difficulties and provide motivation for learners. It has proven effective even in extremely difficult learning situations, and is used to motivate our learners and shape their academic skill repertoires.
Analytical Reasoning:
We teach executive function, decision making, and critical thinking skills using the methods of Dr. Arthur Whimbey. First published in his book Intelligence Can Be Taught, and followed with several textbooks applying critical thinking skills to reading, writing, math, and grammar, Whimbey's ideas have been used to establish analytical skills programs in schools, colleges, and private tutoring centers.
Focus on What is Needed
Precision Placement:
We believe in tailoring our programs to meet the specific needs of each learner. Our experienced instructors work closely with each learner to identify his or her strengths and areas that need improvement. Each learner follows an individualized plan for the most efficient learning possible.
Progress Tracking:
We keep a laser focus on progress with Precision Teaching methods. Daily fluency practice and checks help students stay on track to set and meet individualized goals.
